Simmons, heard from a teacher that she was using her own money to provide snack food to children who came to her when they had no means to buy a meal at school. The reality of a child being denied a breakfast and/or a lunch, which is not within the control of the child, and for any reason (financial, failure to bring a bagged lunch, parent forgot to put money in their food account, etc.) broke Mrs. Simmons’ heart and she knew she had to do something to help.
