Forest Garden Shovelstrode is an eco woodland retreat in a Sussex AONB, offering luxury camping accommodation in yurts & log cabins. There is also a range of woodland craft courses on offer including beekeeping & green woodworking. The self catering accommodation is available for families or full-site groups, and comprises of 4 x rustic log cabins and 2 x traditional Yurts, each within its own secluded corner of a regenerating woodland. Each unit has its own indoor cooking facilities, wood burner and outdoor open fire-pit. The full site sleeps 6 people sole occupancy, 12 people twin-share, or 24 people sharing beds. The woodland workshop can be used as a break-out area for corporate groups. A small barn seats up to 10, and a large tented area which seats up to 30 with two large fire pits. The on-site cafe can provide catering, picnics, BBQ or Pizza oven to suit any budget. The seating area is within the Forest Garden, a carefully balanced ecosystem that utilises all 7 layers of the canopy to grow a plethora of useful and mainly edible plants. 'One acre of forest garden can feed up to 10 people' All visitors benefit from the effects of 'Shinrin Yoku' (or Forest Bathing), the eco therapy of being immersed in nature. The ‘phytoncides’, or natural oils emitted from trees, help boost the body’s natural killer (NK) cell count, and thereby improve our immune system and general wellbeing. Therapies such as yoga, reiki & massage can be arranged. Team activities including clay oven building, hurdle making or totem pole carving can be tailored to suit objectives. Local activities include bike trekking, sailing, rock climbing, orienteering, clay pigeon shooting, paint-balling, golf and trout fishing. Local attractions include Hever castle, the Bluebell railway, Ashdown Forest and the South Downs way.
