About Forgotten Parks Foundation

Our mission is to enhance the management of ‘forgotten’ National Parks and Protected Areas in partnership with governments and local communities, and to empower people to protect wildlife and wilderness around the world. We work in forgotten national parks and protected areas in Africa and Latin America. The National Parks we support are large wilderness areas with high levels of biodiversity, are largely unknown or forgotten, and suffer inadequate support to ensure their long-term protection. The foundation partners with other conservation organizations to assist with the implementation of various technologies and capabilities to enhance wildlife protection and monitoring, protected area management and surveillance. In June 2017 the foundation signed a 15-year public-private partnership with the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) for the rehabilitation and management of the Upemba & Kundelungu National Parks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
