About Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund (FWERF)
The Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund serves the employees of the City of Fort Worth, including general employees, police officers, and firefighters. The Fund was created by an ordinance approved and adopted by the Fort Worth City Council on September 12, 1945. At that time, the Fund had just 1,209 members. Today, membership has grown to more than 11,000, including more than 6,000 active members and nearly 5,000 retirees and beneficiaries. A staff of approximately 20 people manage the Fund's daily operations and administration. The Fund is governed by a Board of Trustees, composed of 13 members. Active employees elect four representatives, retired members elect three representatives, and the remaining trustees are appointed by City Council. Board meetings are held monthly. The vision of the Fund is to be a recognized leader in public pension fund management. We are committed to providing retirement benefits and exceptional services while sustaining our members' trust.
