About Forward Foundation VA

Forward Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting working, single parents and their children in the Greater Richmond area who are in the midst of a financial crisis. “Empowering Action to Move Forward” Values Navigating life’s challenges as a community with: Strength, Perseverance, Persistence, Purposefulness We work with single parent families that have encountered a life altering event which has resulted in financial crisis. Forward Foundation VA has worked diligently to thoughtfully design a program that fosters the resilience and independence of the families we serve so they can “move forward.” We are unique in that we serve the families who wouldn't qualify for state assistance due to earning "too high" of an income, but yet aren't making enough to provide for their children. Forward Foundation bridges that gap for the many families that fall in between. We not only provide a supportive community, but create opportunities for single parent families to become financially independent by achieving long term financial stability. Chartered as a Virginia non-profit corporation, Forward Foundation was derived to provide solutions for working, single parent families. This synthesis of duty and responsibility is a performance- based objective, a “hand-up” for those who do not qualify for services provided by others. Clients are enrolled as partners, charged with successfully completing programs of fiscal stability amid the crises that led them to Forward Foundation. Through individual case management, clients are engaged in multitude of enrichment programs focused on all areas of financial planning, career development, household management, childcare, mental wellness, and peer relations.
