About Forward Learning Youth & Young Adults (FLYY)
Forward Learning Youth and Young Adults (FLYY) is a Wisconsin-based non-profit organization that specializes in working with at-risk and vulnerable teens (14 to 18 years old) and young adults (18 to 30 years old.) FLYY was founded with a bold vision: to empower youth and young adults through transformative experiences that foster self-discovery, resilience, and community belonging. We began as a 25-day backpacking wilderness expedition, helping young people step outside of their daily influences and connect with their authentic selves. Through this immersive journey, they gained essential life skills and a new perspective on their own strengths and abilities. While the youth were on expedition, their families engaged in parallel programming, ensuring that the entire support system was equipped for lasting change. In 2017, FLYY fully transitioned from the wilderness program to a community-based therapeutic support model. While our mission and values remain the same, we now provide services in our office, in participants’ homes, or within the community of Dane County, Wisconsin. This shift allows us to meet youth where they are and provide long-term, sustainable support within their everyday environments. FLYY offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of youth and families, including: ▢ CCS Services (covered by Medicaid): Service Facilitation, Individual Psychotherapy, Individual Skill Development, Psychoeducation, and Parent Support Services. ▢ Individual and family therapy covered by private health insurance and private pay. ▢ Short-term crisis counseling, individual therapy ▢ Free space for parent and youth support groups
