About Foster Care Angels

Foster Care Angels Incorporated was founded in 2011 by husband and wife team Glen Gillman and Kelly Doyle. As crisis carers themselves they noticed that children often arrived at their house with little more than the clothes on their back. In talking with other carers they noted that this was a common theme and became determined to do something about it. Foster Care Angels is dedicated to identifying gaps in need within the current foster care system and designing programs to meet the needs of children and carers involved in the foster care system. At June 2016 Foster Care Angels runs the following programs: • Care Packages – The Gift of Kindness helping to make a difference to displaced children who are frightened, alone, giving them a sense of self-worth and independence during a time of great stress. Each child entering care receives a backpack containing a mix of essential and comfort items that are age and gender appropriate. • Bed in a Bag – The Gift of Comfort providing children with personal bedding that will remain with them throughout their foster care journey, foster a sense of independence and improving self-esteem. • Computers for Kids – The Gift of Education providing children living in residential care facilities with laptop computers, school software, antivirus services and technical support in an effort to improved education outcomes for foster children. • Carer Respite – The Gift of Caring providing foster carers with a weekend of respite where they can unwind, reconnect as a couple and build a peer support network. By providing respite services for worn out carers, we are protecting positive placements. At Foster Care Angels it is our Vision: To support children and carers within the Foster Care System and beyond. It is our Mission: To empower children, support carers and promote hope throughout foster care and beyond.
