About Fox Dreamer
Joe’s was raised by his grandfather who taught him the art of storytelling, how to listen for guidance, to always ask questions and to trust the feeling of truth when the answer comes through. It is with those abilities, that connection, that he carves from. The wisdom he has grown into through his life experiences as well as learning not only native beliefs but also many other spiritual beliefs allows him a broad range of wisdom to teach from. Joe creates Inuit and Aboriginal art with soapstone and wood carvings. Joe’s art pieces tell stories of indigenous spirit, wisdom, change and growth. His carvings depict the Aboriginal people’s relationship with survival in the wild and elements of nature (animals, plants, landscapes). Themes such as bears, seals, hunters, dancers, drummers, shaman, etc. The connection to land is the foundation to much of Aboriginal culture. Many people are drawn to not only Joe’s art, but the cultural stories and representations behind them. In addition to creating his carvings, Joe also teaches the craft of carving to others for educational and therapeutic purposes.
