About Friends of Aseema
Friends of Aseema is a U.S. nonprofit corporation dedicated to helping the Aseema Charitable Trust in India. Visit our online art auction at auctions.artrepreneur.com. Aseema — which means “limitless” in Sanskrit — believes wholeheartedly in the limitless potential of every child. Aseema is devoted to giving the best secular education possible to the most marginalized and underprivileged children it can reach. Since its founding more than 20 years ago, Aseema has grown from a borrowed classroom for a handful of slum and street children to fully managing three public schools in Mumbai. In addition, Aseema built and operates a school in a remote tribal region to the northeast of the city around a town called Igatpuri. Although Aseema’s students live in extreme poverty, they now outpace their counterparts in the region’s private and other public schools. Directly educating 2,700 children per year, Aseema functions on a lean annual budget for what it must accomplish, with only 7% of its budget spent on administrative expenses. There is a lot of competition for funding, which requires Aseema to spend precious time and attention on fundraising. With supplemental support from Friends of Aseema, Aseema can devote even more closely on its mission to serve these children. Aseema transforms lives. Aseema alumni go on to college and gainful employment and display the altruism and love for others that surrounded them at Aseema. Aseema is a model for change anywhere. Friends of Aseema seeks to support this amazing endeavor and spread this beautiful ripple effect.
