About Friends of Forensics
We support the James Logan Forensics Speech and Debate team through fundraising and general advisory services for the program. The James Logan High School Speech and Debate (“Forensics”) team was founded by Tommie Lindsey Jr. in 1989. Since then, Dr. Lindsey has become one of the top coaches in the nation. The James Logan High School Forensics program has been recognized by Oprah, Jim Lehrer, and CBS 5 News for its excellence. The program continues today and is one of the top programs in the nation and consistently takes the most competitors to national and state tournaments year over year. As a program at a public high school, the program has not had the funding of other private schools, yet consistently is ranked among the top at the state and national level having produced multiple national and state champions over the years. Our alumni include accomplished professionals in journalism, technology, law, medicine, and more each of whom often credit some element of their success to having partipated in the program. Our mission remains to empower youth in our community who to achieve through the program and doing so with the limited resources a public school can provide. We do this year over year with the talent of our students, the guidance of our coaches and the support of our community and alumni. Friends of Forensics attempts to bring all of these groups together to ensure that the program thrives for many more decades to come.
