About Friends of the Community Learning Center
The Friends of the Community Learning Center is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 1992, dedicated to supporting adult education at the Cambridge Community Learning Center (CLC). The CLC offers free classes to adults who seek to learn English, improve their literacy skills, earn high school credentials, become U.S. citizens, or prepare for college/ a career. We believe that adult education changes lives. It provides individuals with the tools they need to build better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Every year, more than 1,000 adult learners walk through the doors of the CLC—mothers and fathers, young adults and older residents, newcomers and long-time members of the Cambridge community. What unites them is a shared goal: to improve their lives through education. The Friends support the CLC through providing scholarships, emergency aid and resources to help students succeed.
