About Friends of the Holy Land

Friends of the Holy Land (FHL) was established in 2009 to help and encourage Christians to flourish in the land of their birth, to ensure a secure presence where Christianity began. Friends of the Holy Land works closely with churches in the UK and in the Holy Land. Our work is ecumenical and has the backing and blessing of Anglican and Catholic Bishops in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland as well as many other Church Leaders. We are apolitical; we don’t campaign for a political solution leaving that to other better qualified organisations. Instead, we focus on encouraging Christians to remain in the land of their birth by supporting them to build resilient and self-sufficient communities, in what is one of the most challenging environments. Friends of the Holy Land fund a mixture of sustainable and immediate relief work in the West Bank, Gaza, Israel and Jordan. Friends of the Holy Land is registered as a charity in the Holy Land as well as England & Wales, so is uniquely placed to act swiftly and directly through a team of locally based lay and clerical professionals using our local bank account. We work directly with individuals and alongside other NGOs; embedded in the local charitable sector our work is guided by a committee of leading members of the Christian community, endorsed by the Patriarchs and Head of Churches in Jerusalem and governed to international standards by our Trustees in the UK. A "safe pair of hands" in a complex environment. Our goal is to ensure every practicing Christian is aware of our mission and has access to Friends of the Holy Land as method of channeling support to Christians living in the West Bank, Gaza, Israel and Jordan.
