About Fundamental Needs

Fundamental Needs works with underprivileged communities to alleviate the suffering caused by inadequate access to electricity, clean drinking water, a heat source, and a proper food source here in the United States. Fundamental Needs provides community solutions driven by need, design, and application. We take on projects wherever the winds take us. Our projects help fulfill community needs that begin with any element affecting quality of life. Fundamental Needs builds off-grid water systems and greywater gardens for families and elders that have lived their whole lives without running water or electricity. To accomplish this, kids at the local high school (on the Navajo reservation) build and install our systems and learn about the topics involved (plumbing, solar, agriculture, and financial literacy). Fundamental Needs also provides assistance with immediate needs such as firewood, water hauling, and food boxes. Additionally, we've pivoted Fundamental Needs to respond to disasters. With the Marshall fire affecting our neighbors, our community, and our staff members, we feel obligated to step in.
