About Furness Partnership

Founded in 1986 by directors Mike Furness & Paul Haines, we are a consulting civil and structural engineering practice with offices in London and Bradford. We are a leading expert in the design of sports and leisure complexes, with a proven track record across all building types and materials, including cinemas, theatres, retail spaces, and the restoration of historic buildings. Working with both private enterprises and public bodies such as Local Authorities, Universities and Schools we like to keep good working relationships with our clients by being friendly, helpful and approachable. As a consequence, most of our workload is through repeat business and recommendation. Because of our expertise in the field we are regularly called upon to provide consultancy services for expert witness and dispute resolution. The practice is also represented on the national committee for the BSSA on the use of stainless steel in swimming pool environments. The immense experience gained from this work is concentrated in a relatively compact size firm, and spread evenly between its two offices in London and Bradford. Consequently prospective Clients are assured that all our design staff, from project leader to the detailers and technicians, have in-depth knowledge of pool design and posses the specialist knowledge required for a successful facility.
