About Futures Family Mediation
Paul Richardson has been working in family law since 2005. Specialising in divorce, finances, children, and property disputes between unmarried couples, he became concerned about how costly family law advice and proceedings were becoming. In 2015, he trained as a family mediator with Resolution, to help separating couples resolve issues together and save the cost, time and stress associated with Court proceedings. This led Paul to set up Futures Family Mediation to help parties reach proposals in an amicable, balanced and cost-effective manner. We provide family mediation in relation to all family law issues including divorce, finances and children, and property disputes between unmarried couples. We provide a safe environment for couples to discuss their issues and help them work together to arrive at mutually agreed outcomes, therefore avoiding the significant costs and stress associated with Court proceedings. Mediation can be carried out face to face or by way of online mediation where couples can attend from the comfort of their own home, or any place of their choosing, so long as it is private. Where children are involved, we ensure they are at the forefront of all discussions always reminding parents that they are working together for the best interests of their children. We are also part of the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme. This means that for cases where arrangements for children need to be resolved, we can apply for a £500 contribution from the government towards the costs of mediation. This generally covers the cost of at least one mediation session. In some cases, one session alone could be enough to arrive at agreed arrangements.
