About GA! Think Tank
This think tank is a debating and publishing platform for students interested in studying contemporary developments with a historical perspective. It is a place where enthusiastic students can work on IR-related topics using history; after all, one cannot understand the present without the help of the past. The vision of GA! stands in the new trend of applied history. History is more than a legitimising tool in political discourses: it can provide important information for future policies and explain the actions of actors at both national and international levels. The mission of GA! is to provide a platform where students with similar interests can debate and reflect together on the application of history within current IR developments. GA! also offers students the opportunity to improve their writing skills by writing socially relevant articles that we publish on our website and social media. GA!'s ambition is to become Utrecht's IR Think Tank and to positively change the image of history prevailing in society, especially in politics, given the many opportunities the past has to offer us.
