About Gain Stage Productions

Owner and Operator Wes Akin's passion for music and live production started from an early age. Growing up on MTV and classic rock thanks to his parents and brothers, music was always at the front of his life. By age 12 he had decided a career in music is what he loved and had already made plans for college to follow that dream. At 18 he left to attend college at South Plains College after experiencing their Touring Ensemble "Country Caravan" 6 years earlier. Wes enrolled in the Commercial Music Program with a Specialty in Audio Engineering. He would receive training in Acoustics, Studio Recording, Live Sound Production, Lighting, Music Business, and Systems Engineering. During his time Wes was surrounded by talented artist and engineers that would go on to careers as studio and touring musicians, Touring engineers, Studio Engineers, and even headlining Touring acts.Wes spent several years working in various roles from Local Crew, Rigger, Monitor Engineer, and Front House Engineer for events and productions on all levels from local shows to festivals and National touring shows. Wes also spent time working as an installation tech for AVL contractors designing and installing sound reinforcement systems and lighting systems for colleges, Houses of Worship, and event venues. After taking time in other industries and starting a family Wes decided it was time to return to his love and passion for all things production. Gain Stage Productions was born. Wes' goal with Gain Stage Productions is to provide the best consultation, training, and production service as possible with the customers best interest in mind. Our motivation is not a one time sale or service but a lifetime relationship for all your production and service needs.
