Gallery Galschiøt is the sculptor Jens Galschiøt's workshop, sculpture park, art shop and gallery. As a guest, you will witness the journey that all of Galschiøt's sculptures have to go through before they end up in the gallery, in the park, in the shop or somewhere else in the world. You are first taken through the workshop, where Galschiøt and his employees work on modeling sculptures or cast them in either bronze or copper. So you get an insight into the artistic creation process and are introduced to wax and casting techniques. There are always more sculptures in the making and therefore there are many processes in progress in the 700 square meters, kaleidoscopic workshop. Next, the 400 square meters gallery hall, the sculpture park and the art shop await, where everything from small pieces to large sculptures and art installations are on display. The hall also often hosts debates, concerts, conferences, lectures, etc. Jens Galschiøt is an international artist who can write countless sculptures and art happenings on his CV. Most recently, he has become the focus of debate about free speech in China, since his sculpture The Pillar of Shame, a memorial to the Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing, where hundreds of peaceful protesters were killed by Chinese troops, was ordered removed from The University of Hong Kong.
