About Game Devision

What is Game Devision? A project-based game development program for high school students. Students learn how to create video games from concept to completion enriched by next-level access to industry professionals and academic affiliations. What do we do? Project-based learning curriculum consists of student-led game jams, milestone check-ins, module tutorials, metacognitive brainstorms, and advanced collaborative discussions. Enrichment through games industry events, academic associations, and guest speakers. Who is this for? We enroll absolute beginners, self-taught students, serious student dev teams, and entire school cohorts. Video games are a mixture of technical engineering and artistic expression. This program welcomes everyone who wants to put their talents towards game development. Why are we doing this? Support is very limited for game development at the high school level. There are many students whose love of playing games has grown into an intense desire to make them. How do we do this? Online. Students work remotely. We understand how important it is to learn modern soft skills like remote project management, at-home productivity, and collaboration. Milestone check-ins, discussions, office hours, guest speakers, and help chat all take place on our moderated, invitation-only Discord server. In-person. Many industry events happen right here! Game Devision is headquartered in the San Francisco bay area, a well-established center of AAA game studios, professional independent studios, and countless aspirational indie devs.
