One of the first differences you’ll discover that distinguishes a Gannon Built Retirement Estate from most other retirement villages around Australia, is that it is being built by a family rather than a big development company, organisation or charity. The Gannon family has built a solid reputation over the last 25 years for building some of the most successful retirement estates in this country. Tom and Michael Gannon are involved every step of the way and create their estates based on simple family values and respect for the people who will live there. Gannon History The Gannon family began developing retirement estates in the late 1980’s. Originally from regional NSW work in the construction industry had seen them move across the country, finally settling in Adelaide. The movement of the family across many regional towns in NSW, Vic and SA would provide a detailed knowledge that would become invaluable in the development of regional retirement estates. Tom snr and Mavis Gannon were amongst the pioneers in the development of modern retirement estates. The first development was Vermont Retirement Estate, located in Adelaide south western suburbs. Today it is part of the LendLease portfolio, but a review of the Estate’s features shows that our model and business strategy was very much realised from this first development.
