About Gardens of Grace

Gardens of Grace was founded by Paula Harmon in August 2017, less than eight months after the death of her three year old daughter, Grace. It is our Mission to create awareness of the scope and consequences of fetal, infant, and child loss for families, supporters, and carers, through the development and dissemination of better evidence, information, and educational material. We are advocating for better support for those suffering from the consequences of miscarriage, stillbirth, pregnancy loss, and infant and child loss. Gardens of Grace is working with communities of interest – including individuals, civil society organizations, healthcare individuals and institutions, and policy bodies and government – to develop improved and more consistent mechanisms for comfort and support. In acting to support these three major strands, Gardens of Grace will pursue a range of projects and fund-raising campaigns, and it hopes the result will be to encourage solidarity with bereaved families, and to foster a stronger sense of community. In pursuing its Mission, Gardens of Grace aims to advance the Principles of Bereavement Care, which form the acronym, GRACE: Gardens to ease the grief. Remember the lost child. Act with community, health care and government. Care for the bereaved family. Educate. Gardens of Grace is a community-based, and community led not-for-profit organization aimed squarely at providing social support for those who have suffered loss from miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant and youth loss. We can only achieve our goals with community involvement – your involvement! We are working to establish gardens in public spaces, to create awareness and discussion about babyloss, give validation to parents to openly celebrate and acknowledge that their children WERE, and to create a soothing but happy place for families of loss to visit.
