About GARFIELD

GARFIELD is a joint project of TU Graz, TU Wien and Brimatech Servies GmbH. Within the project GARFIELD - New GNSS services and innovative processing procedures for target group-specific applications - possible concepts from the Galileo HAS will be investigated against the background of the requirements of stakeholders and users. It is important to analyse which service levels (SL1 or SL2) are suitable for which requirements, to what extent multi-frequency multi-system evaluations (beyond Galileo and GPS) are possible, whether it makes a difference whether the correction data are received via the signal or the internet and whether it is possible to use the HAS data or signals for integrity determination. Based on an existing multi-frequency multi-system software-based GNSS receiver, the signal processing for the use of the HAS is to be designed and implemented, followed by a PPP processing using the measurements and the decoded corrections. The developed software modules will be available to users in the form of open-source software so that they can carry out tests with the HAS themselves. The main goal of Garfield is to bring the information and knowledge gained from the investigations to the Austrian stakeholders and users and to communicate the added value of the services (e.g., HAS, ...) or processing methods (e.g., RRH concept, ...) and thus create sustainable contributions to the application possibilities of GNSS. For this purpose, not only various events, and workshops, but also web content and webinars by leading GNSS experts from the Technical Universities of Graz and Vienna will be organized beyond the project period. The project is funded by the Austrian Space Applications Programme (ASAP), managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
