About Gateway Community Outreach
The target population includes single parents and their children, extended family members who are parenting children, pregnant women, unemployed adults, disabled adults, senior citizens on fixed income, veterans, and others who request assistance. Our Mission: Reach families and individuals in the community that are at risk and quickly offer the assistance needed to stabilize their household. Our goal is to provide solutions especially to those families trying to recover from an economic downturn. Gateway Community Outreach has been providing services in Broward County for twenty-one years, and have served over 760,000 individuals. In addition to food distribution and direct services, GCO collaborates with 80 other agencies that provides a full spectrum of community service to meet additional and long term needs. Another partner is our local churches in Broward County and one in Palm Beach County have donated space, so that six of our sites are located in low income neighborhoods that allows clients easy access to our services. In this fiscal year, we expect to serve an estimated 30,854 individuals (heads of household, children, seniors, and other adults). The ethnicity of Gateway's clients reflects the diversity of South Florida.
