About Gateway to Learning
Gateway to Learning is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago. Founded in 1974, our mission is to provide lifelong learning for adults with intellectual challenges and developmental disabilities that promotes active inclusion at home, at work, and in the community. We work to achieve this realization by educating and training our program participants for economic productivity, a place in the program and larger community, and for the highest degree of self-sufficiency and self-worth possible. As our organization celebrates more than 40 years serving adults with disabilities, Gateway has its sights set on building a brighter future for our program participants, both inside our walls and out in the community. As we expand our reach and set exciting goals for Gateway’s future, we’re eager to bring new members onto our team who have the skills, connections, and financial ability to help take our program to the next level. The board of directors meets once a month at Gateway. We ask members of the board to lend their insight and expertise to help make important decisions on behalf of Gateway. Board members commit to attending Gateway’s events throughout the year, and help build meaningful connections with influential members of our community.They are also expected to contribute to the organization’s fundraising efforts, both by reaching out to their network of potential supporters and by making their own donations to Gateway on an annual basis. Individuals who are skilled in the areas of fundraising, accounting, technology and other relevant fields, in addition to those who have the ability and desire to help fund our life-changing programs, would make a great addition to our team.
