This process will continue through to 2018 for all Employers; you will almost certainly have to comply with the legislation before then. The deadline for your company to join the scheme depends upon the number of employees that you have and as an employer you will have an obligation to ensure that your employee scheme is compliant with the new rules and is set up on time. The Pensions Registrar who oversee the schemes expect you to tell your workforce about automatic enrolment and how it affects them, to enrol certain employees into the scheme and invite other types of employees to join in the scheme. What you cannot do is to either encourage or discourage enrolment. It sounds simple on the face of it but as an experienced employer you will know that ideas imposed by the government are usually far from simple and this is no exception.
