About Gayner Family Sustainable Investment Fund @ UVA
The Gayner Family Sustainable Investment Fund (GFSIF) is the premier $600K student-run fund at the University of Virginia. Established by a donation from Thomas and Susan Gayner of Markel Group, the GFSIF is a scholarship fund with >$600,000 in committed capital, with a minimum $25,000 additional commitment each year for the next 25 years. Dedicated to empowering the next generation of investors, we adopt a dual-prong approach by managing a scholarship fund and providing an investment education curriculum. The Vintage Fund Series—our flagship scholarship initiative that raised $200,000 in two years—invests in equities with a 25-year holding period before distributing the proceeds as student scholarships. In addition, our Speaker Series features phenomenal guest speakers once or twice a month, who come help craft an investing education for our students. Some prior speakers include: 1) Mohnish Pabrai - Founder of Pabrai Funds (AUM $1+ Billion), and friend of the late Charlie Munger 2) Chris Davis - Founder of Davis Funds (AUM $2+ Billion), and Board Member for Berkshire Hathaway 3) Josh Tarasoff - Founder of Greenlea Lane Capital Management (AUM $350+ Million) Join us on our mission to promote financial literacy and expand education accessibility!
