About Gem Lettuce Jewellery
Gem Lettuce is an innovative range of handcrafted resin jewellery and homeware pieces. The brainchild of Karen (Kaz) Evans, a fashion designer by trade with a genuine love of art and creativity in all forms. With an unwavering commitment to quality and cutting edge design, Karen individually handcrafts every piece of jewellery, injecting her own unique style to each piece. Resin is an exciting material to work with because of the multitude of opportunities it provides for creating colours, textures and shapes. Our bestsellers are rings, pendants, necklaces, bangles and more recently, we’ve added home wares to the mix. With a background in fashion this has been a huge inspiration for Kaz’s pieces, as well as interiors and architecture, and natural forms including local crafts and traditional weaving pieces from South America and Mexico. Each theme she creates is strongly visual. For example, a current collection is based on earth, wine and fire. Gold dust storms, strong colours and grit like textures really enforce these ideas. After a visit to the South of France, she developed a range of pieces based on what she saw and photographed in the Luberon region - sharp rock like shapes inspired by the beautiful mountains, and the colours Van Gough used in his famous work - violets, rusts, golds and blues. For the last two years Gem Lettuce have accessorised fashion labels at Sydney’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, a fabulous thrill to see our product on the catwalk! We’ve also been featured on Australian television screens in Channel 10’s Offspring and the ABC’s Time of Our Lives. The vision for promoting Gem Lettuce pieces includes working with retail outlets, fashion labels, stylists, magazines, fashion bloggers, and photographers.
