About General Welding Works
General Welding Works, established in 1944, has been providing quality pressure vessels to the Refining and Petrochemical Industries from our Katy Road facility. General Welding over our 60 plus years established itself as a quality manufacturer of large pressure vessels. In the 1990’s, General Welding began leasing a portion of the old Armco Steel #2 smelt building in the Greensport Industrial complex effectively increasing our capacity and allowing us to ship much larger vessels due to the size of the shop and our proximity to the Houston Ship Channel. In 2004 General Welding signed a long-term lease for 800’ of the main bay along with additional side bays essentially doubling the square feet under roof. As of 2005, our entire manufacturing effort has been relocated to the Greensport facility. The Greensport facility is located off of industrial road with easy access to rail and water, allowing us to ship very large vessels both locally and abroad. Our management and staff bring years of experience in custom fabrication to the table enabling us to execute your project needs effectively and professionally.
