About Germantown Historical Society
Germantown Historical Society proudly presents a glimpse of the German Heritage of our village which is still preserved to day in the buildings located in Dheinsville Historic Park in Germantown, Wisconsin. Germantown Historical Society operates the Sila Lydia Bast Bell Museum, Valentine Wolf Haus (an original half-timbered house dating to 1854) and Christ Church (founded in 1842), one of the oldest churches in Germantown. Wolf Haus is home to the Jeffris Research Library, and Christ Church is the society's historical museum. The historic district is gathered along the six-way corssroads of Dheinsville, which was the first commercial business district in the Township of Germantown. It was begun with the purchase of 800 acres of land on August 22, 1842, and is the oldest portion of Germantown.
