About Ghost Diving USA

We are a diver-driven non-profit organization that aims to rescue our waters from ghost nets—silent ocean threats that harm marine life and disrupt delicate ecosystems. Since 2022, we have united ocean lovers, eco-conscious individuals, and corporate allies to combat marine debris. Our passion for this cause has a deep-seated history in our community. In the mid-2000s, a small group of divers participated in multiple ghost net cleanups. They successfully removed thousands of pounds of net from local sites. Unfortunately, a lack of funding and the inability to recycle the nets collected temporarily halted efforts but did not extinguish the passion for the cause. This foundational experience has fueled our commitment to continue the work started and innovate and expand our impact. Our team includes teachers, musicians, business owners, scientists, and engineers, all passionate about protecting the ocean's majesty. We remove pounds of ghost nets and, in collaboration with the Healthy Seas Foundation, give them new life through innovative recycling. Beyond being a cleanup crew, we are tech divers, educators, and advocates who inspire action and raise awareness about abandoned fishing gear.
