GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. We offer free therapeutic and educational programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Detroit area. The Detroit location will be the first of its kind in the state of MI and will open Fall 2018.. Through free programs and through our Generation G Campaign for global acceptance, we EMPOWER families by maximizing opportunities for daily achievement and lasting acceptance. To ensure lasting acceptance, we must show the world what individuals with Down syndrome are truly capable of achieving as students, co-workers, volunteers, friends, and valued members of their communities. Our program outcomes help advance this vital social impact goal. Our team consists of family members, friends, and professionals connected to the Down syndrome community, working hard to bring a GiGi’s Playhouse to the Detroit area and surrounding communities. We would like to see those we love with Down syndrome reach their highest potential, gain confidence, feel empowered and become their best of all. Our GiGi’s Playhouse location will also be a place where families, siblings, and friends can network with others and feel supported. GiGi’s Playhouse was founded by Nancy Gianni and is headquartered in Hoffman Estates, IL. Nancy was recognized as a CNN HERO for 2016.
