About GiGi's Playhouse Sugar Land
The GiGi’s Playhouse mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all. With 51 brick and mortar locations across North America, we are profoundly changing lives through FREE, educational and therapeutic-based programs for individuals of all ages, their families, and the community. GiGi’s Playhouse, headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, is the only international network of brick-and-mortar Down Syndrome Achievement Centers in the world, and it is growing at a rate of 35% annually. We have built a replicable model over the course of 16 years that includes standardized programming, operational, technical and strategic tools and resources, all delivered from our headquarters. Our growth comes from adding new locations and new programs every year, but also through the growth of new families engaging with every one of our locations. GiGi’s Playhouse offers over 30 innovative programs that serve the unique needs of individuals of all ages with Down syndrome, all at zero cost to families. With over 200,000 free program participation hours annually, we help participants thrive through signature programming which includes: speech and language development, social-emotional development, fine and gross motor development, academic support, health and wellness, and career skills. Programs are purposeful and progressive, celebrating meaningful gains rather than developmental milestones, which often come later or in a different order for children and adults with Down syndrome. In addition to growing the number of locations, family engagement and program scope, GiGi's Playhouse has been working hard to change perceptions of the Down syndrome community. We have confidence in delivering program impact and empowering individuals to be prepared for their futures in the world, but we simultaneously need to get the world ready for them.
