GIL "Grounded In Love" Foundation Inc. is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization celebrating over 40 years of comprehensive support and services for community residents with Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, and Autism in Connecticut. Our Mission: Embracing a Higher Standard of Commitment to Provide Loving and Compassionate Care for Individuals with Diverse Special Needs. GIL (Grounded in Love) Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1985 by MariAnne Haines in response to discovering an absence of local day programs for her daughter with autism. Initially established with the primary focus of providing structured summer and weekend activity programs for youth with autism and developmental disabilities, GIL has grown to become a full-service provider of comprehensive programs and supports for individuals with diverse disabilities. Partnering with state and local organizations along with the community, GIL continues to provide top tier services to the residents in our group homes. MariAnne’s daughter, Doreen, resides in one of our group homes and continues to be a reminder and inspiration as we strive to achieve our mission and vision.
