About GIPSIL

GIPSIL works with disadvantaged children, young people, and families within their local community to build brighter futures, together. GIPSIL was founded in 1992 by members of the local community in response to challenges faced on the Gipton estate, where young people were struggling to develop the skills needed for independent living. This was creating significant difficulties both for them and for the wider community. Building on our successful work in Gipton, we have grown into an outward-looking organisation that is well respected across Leeds and beyond. Over the years, we have expanded our services, taking on additional prevention initiatives and developing them further. Today, GIPSIL employs over 150 staff and supports more than 5,000 vulnerable people annually. Since our founding, we have helped over 64,000 people in need, empowering individuals and strengthening communities. Despite our growth, GIPSIL remains deeply rooted in its origins. Our proactive and solution-focused approach, community-driven ethos, and commitment to making a lasting impact continue to shape our work. We remain a vital anchor in Gipton, with strong connections to the area and a lasting presence through our many locally held properties.
