Welcome to GIRAFAS Play & Learn! GIRAFAS Play & Learn stands proudly as the pioneering Portuguese Immersion School in Brooklyn, NY, dedicated to children ages 0 to 10. Founded by Mônica Rocha, an NYS and Montessori certified early childhood educator, our institution has been dedicated to promoting Portuguese as a heritage or new language for over a decade. At GIRAFAS Play & Learn, we believe that early childhood education shapes the foundation of a child's future. Our mission extends beyond being a drop-in and drop-out language service – as raising a child takes a village, through our community-focused approach, we foster a sense of belonging, identity, and community for both our families and children. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that becomes an extension of the children's homes. Our goal is to connect families, offer support, and help them rediscover their roots, language, and culture. By implementing the Montessori education principles, we create a holistic learning experience that cultivates a love for learning and supports each child's unique abilities. With meticulous attention to detail, we demonstrate our care and love in every aspect of GIRAFAS. From the thoughtfully designed space to our daily interactions with families, we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment. Through the events we organize throughout the year, we facilitate socialization and connection among our families, planting seeds of friendship that we hope will blossom into lifelong bonds.
