About Girl Up uOttawa

We are Girl Up uOttawa! In alignment with the United Nations Girl Up movement, our goal is to expand girls' opportunities to lead by achieving gender equality, advocating for human rights, and developing individual and collaborative skills so that every girl can reach her full potential. Within uOttawa we strive to empower women by raising awareness of the challenges girls face in developing countries worldwide. In the past three years, we have had discussion panels centered around topics such as domestic violence, abuse, racial stereotypes, self-love, career development in diverse fields, and more. Through creative events such as poster making for climate change, or letter writing for social justice, we wish to ignite our members to become the next generation of women leaders. Not all of it has to be serious though. At Girl Up uOttawa we also take the initiative to have events solely for the purpose of meeting new people, providing a quiet place to study, or simply having a good time. Feel free to join us for any of our movie nights, cacao and crams, and themed socials. Our amazing team works hard to lead campus-wide events and everyone does their part to truly shine.
