About Girls of Sarasota County
Girls Inc. of Sarasota County is a local affiliate of a national nonprofit youth organization whose mission is to inspire girls in grades K-12 to be Strong, Smart, and Bold in 3 key areas – Academic Achievement, Health & Fitness, and Life Skills. The Girls Inc. Experience focuses on the development of the “whole girl,” and equips girls in grades K-12 with an array of life skills to flourish as healthy, educated, and independent adults. Primary Goals: At Girls Inc., we have three primary goals for our girls: 1. To be STRONG & HEALTHY by embracing a positive body image, participating in physical activity, and engaging in healthy nutrition, while decreasing and delaying substance use and risky sexual behaviors. 2. To be SMART & EDUCATED by increasing their love of learning, improving their academic performance, exploring non-traditional careers, and aspiring for education beyond high school. 3. To be BOLD & INDEPENDENT by building basic life skills and achieving goals, having healthy relationships, and increasing resilience in the face of obstacles to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
