Having over 150,000 worth of computerised simulation mannequins and trainers recruited from backgrounds of first response first aid with a minimum of 20 years experience as practitioners and trainers we are confident that people come through our doors learn to manage accidents in a positive and beneficial manner. Give Life runs a 2 day course for level 2 first aid as this is the minimum time for a person to become even remotely confident in their abilities as a first aider. I want every person who comes through our doors to be confident in their ability as my life may one day rest in their hands and at best they will need to know how to manage an accident scene. I am always surprised when a person is sent off to a 4 hour course by their employer, it reminds me of a manager many years ago who argued that machine guards were a waste of time and to prove it he placed his own son on a press without a guard, within 3 hours his son had lost most of his hand. Hoping never to need something isn't the same as preparing just in case. It is always too late to realise that the training provided is insufficient after the accident, so we prepare people to deal with the accident when other safe guards have broken down.
