The O’Connell family opened their gates to the public in 1991 and their collection of animals has grown to over 50 species of animals and birds. Located just off the N6 motorway just 5 miles from Athlone town, Glendeer Pet Farm is a must see when you are in the area. Children love the excitement and the adventure of a visit to Glendeer. Glendeer have been featured on numerous TV programmes: RTE’s Ear to The Ground, No Frontiers, Nationwide, Seoige Show, TV3 News, Disney Club and more. Glendeer Pet Farm have also won several awards: 2010 - The Primary Times Magazine Top 10 Places to Visit Santa, 2009 - Top 5 Open Farms in Ireland in 4Kids Magazine, 2001 - Fáilte Ireland Hospitality Award 2001, 1994 & 1993 - Family Farm of the Year Awards and more.
