About Global Fund to End Modern Slavery
GFEMS was a bold, international fund working to end modern slavery. Our purpose was to raise new resources, unify global partners and efforts, and improve the available data and evidence needed to make anti-slavery work more effective. GFEMS worked in places and industries with high concentrations of modern slavery. Our first investments were launched in 2018 in the Philippines, Vietnam, and India. We expanded into Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brazil. Given global trends, the Board made the strategic decision to conclude Fund operations, effective December 31, 2024. We are proud of the Fund's impact over its lifecycle across sectors like construction, apparel and finance, and we are grateful to our partners around the world. Our investments built on evidence of what works to expand and scale the most promising solutions. We invested in research, innovation, and global public goods needed in every country to accelerate the end of modern slavery. Our team developed cross-cutting interventions including supply chain management tools and global finance innovations to build more comprehensive responses. Ultimately, we partnered with 60+ organizations, resulting in improved outcomes for over 115,000 people, 25+ tools and methods for the field, and 50+ rigorous research projects and evaluations.
