About Global Macro Team

Global Macro Team is the resident student-led international financial research organization at the University of Texas at Austin. At Global Macro Team, we collaborate with students from a wide range of academic backgrounds to accomplish our three main ambitions: 1. Analyze. We rigorously research what underpins international affairs today, which requires an interdisciplinary lens to look at history, economics, and politics. We intensively collaborate to field the best reports and presentations so that all our members become greatly knowledgeable in the particular topics we research. 2. Forecast. We observe economic as well as historical patterns to investigate potential future outcomes for current events. Although we may not be clairvoyants, our meticulous attention to fact-based research ensures that we consider only the best and most probable scenarios. 3. Invest. We excavate potential investment opportunities that are either directly or indirectly attached to the topics we research. Because of the global nature of our research, our recommended investments are subsequently inherently international--including equities in emerging markets, bonds from foreign countries, and ETFs and mutual funds from respected macroeconomic hedge funds. We are divided into three focused multidisciplinary research groups, each of which focuses on a particular significant global topic, and each of which is led by Senior Fellows and mentors with extensive experience in the exploration of international affairs. As a member of our organization, you will be directly exposed to the different mechanisms underpinning the structure of our world, as well as fundamental research and analysis skills that will extend to any career path.
