About Global Mining Education Foundation

The Global Mining Education Foundation's mission is committed to "Preparing mining professionals to solve evolving industry challenges through innovative education and certifications." We believe that the key to mining's success is to invest in building the skills and provide more opportunities for the current workforce. The building of these skills can be accomplished through an industry owned and controlled institute, dedicated solely to building those skills for the entire industry. By investing in the skills of the current workforce, they will be more successful in their current jobs and better able to meet the demands of future opportunities. By helping the current workforce be more successful through increased skills, our companies and the industry as a whole will be more successful. Additional benefits will include retaining more existing skills by training more people during economic downturns. This can be done instead of paying for redundancy packages encouraging people to leave our companies and the industry. If the industry invests in the success of its people, it will also change the industry’s perception of people outside the industry. That will make it easier to bring more people into the industry and with the benefit that it will be people who want to succeed by learning new skills. The institute also believes mining education must be effective, efficient, and affordable. Only the mining industry has the right resources, people, and motivation to make those a reality.
