About GlobalMatch

GlobalMatch is a platform that connects ambitious young people from different parts of the world – via video, calling, e-mail or messenger. As Tandem-Partner you are given the opportunity to experience another culture, practice intercultural competences and get contacts in a globalized world. In 2017, GlobalMatch has already connected over 100 young people from 11 countries, enabling them to work together on economic, social and cultural questions. The Problem we tackle: Climate Change, forced migration, inequality… there are many global challenges! International cooperation for solving those challenges is often based on ethnocentrism. 'Help' and 'Knowledge' flows from the Global North to the Global South. To date, young people from different parts of the word have very few opportunities to learn from each other through two-way communication and work together on global challenges at eye level. OUR VISION is for young people all over the world to have equal opportunities to shape our global future; that they learn from each other and shape reality at eye level. OUR MISSION is to connect ambitious young people from the Global South and the Global North to share perspectives, expertise and opportunities. We thus hope to achieve better understanding of lived realities around the world, couter prejudices and ultimately cooperation at eye level to tackle global challenges. OUR ACTION is to match two individuals from the Global North and the Global South with similar interests, study backgrounds and/or complementing skill sets. Through regular video-calls and/or communication via e-mail or messenger in a guided process, the Tandem works together on a specific topic, project or scientific question. In the course of the partnership, the Tandem will receive intercultural training and will be introduced to developmental challenges and postcolonial perspectives.
