About Glowmundo
A 501C3 non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate resilience in children, born from something that lives within all of us: inner strength. Children's academic and social performance is dependent on their own resilience capacity as well as the mental and emotional health of the adults in their lives. We partner closely with students, school staff, and parents over a three-year period to support the development of each individual’s resilience capacity. Our programming is rooted in the principles of neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and awareness practices. The resulting shifts generate new perspectives that fuel positive change in classrooms, families, schools, and the community at large. We have three primary programs: 1) The Resilient Teacher program: Teacher training consists of two components: (1) empowering teachers in building their own resilience capacity and (2) equipping them with the tools needed to improve their classroom culture using culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices. 2) Student I Glow curriculum: I Glow© empowers children with a positive sense of self and internal safety, as well as the strategies needed to skillfully navigate their thoughts and emotions so that they are better able to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of adversities. It is grounded in CASEL’s five core SEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.Teachers receive weekly coaching throughout the school year on effective implementation methods. 3) Parent Dialogos and Back on Track Programs: A parent program designed to first increase parent engagement, build community and support positive parenting practices. Then it works to build parents’ capacity to prepare for, adapt to, and recover from stressful situations that present on a daily basis, giving them room to focus on the joy of raising a family. Teen parent programming is available as well.
