About GMS Elevator Services
GMS Elevator Services was originally founded in 1987 by G. Mathew Simpkins, Pamela Simpkins, & Gordon Simpkins & incorporated in 1992. In 2003, GMS Elevator was pleased to introduce the fourth generation elevator mechanic Nathen Simpkins to the company. GMS Elevator Services began manufacturing custom elevator equipment & hydraulics. GMS has grown from a small family business to a thriving independent elevator company with over 30 employees. Through the years, GMS has continued to outline plans for growth by exceeding current elevator industry standards & utilizing the experience of its employee’s. In 2003, GMS implemented a structured safety program coupled with an accredited approved state & federal program designed specifically for elevator mechanics & apprentices. In 2014, GMS begin refurbishing cab interiors, refinishing entrances, new ceilings, and flooring. With the implementation of these two plans, Safety & Growth, we believe our efforts are successful as we have continued to expand our company taking on new ventures & larger projects. GMS has continued to develop in three key areas of the elevator industry; service, modernization, & new construction. GMS Elevator was pleased to become a Los Angeles Unified School District Small Business Enterprise Certificate holder in 2003 which we have maintained current thru 2016. GMS began its relationship with LAUSD doing new elevator installation through our department, now expanding to service, modernization & repair. As a result of that relationship, GMS Elevator was the successful bidder of the south area service in February of 2004, again in March 2009, and again in 2014. In keeping customer satisfaction as our highest priority, GMS Elevator has maintained a service minded company. This allows us to command a project from new installation, maintenance agreements, repair, or modernization from conception to completion in a timely cost efficient manner.
