An open, public, safe, inclusive G2G Rail Trail experience that is a continuous, multi-use green space from the transportation interchange at Guelph Central Station in Guelph to the shore of Lake Huron in Goderich, Ontario. Residents and visitors are welcome to access the parkway at any point along its 140 km length and, at no expense, to traverse as much or as little as their abilities, time and interests dictate. G2G Rail Trail is a natural, historical and culturally significant conservation corridor that supports community recreation and active transportation. It’s 400 hectares holistically promotes health and well-being and brings awareness to rural agriculture, heritage and the environment. It provides a non-motorized backbone of connectivity to adjoining natural habitat, communities and a network of trails and roads. Operations and maintenance are community-based, supported by municipalities and co-ordinated by G2G to ensure safety, consistency of experience and ongoing enhancements over the full length. Contiguous ownership by the province of Ontario since 1990 and a stable long-term operating lease agreement with G2G assures that leasehold improvements will have decades of use and management.
