Good Mother Films is a creative company that specializes in producing innovative and community-conscious content for film, television, web, theatre, and beyond. Good Mother Films is a creative production company deeply rooted in community, social justice, and artistic expansion. Carrying core tenets of collaboration, spirituality and cooperative economics, GMF founders Akilah ‘AK’ Walker and Diana Gonzalez-Morett strive to introduce a fresh take on culturally responsive, innovative, and experiential art to diverse audiences. Our stories don’t stop on the screen. We encourage living dialogues, accountability, and exchange from our community. Primarily producing film/scripted tv and web, we also create, produce and endorse work in theatre, dance, fine art, community engagement, and organizing. The company’s name is inspired by the Ifa/Yoruba religion’s divine feminine orisha of Yemaya who is considered the mother of all and the source of all waters.
