Manchester is home to one of Europe’s largest student populations, has good transport links and a thriving café culture. Board game cafés have been springing up all over the country, but we’re lagging behind the trend with only a single retailer in the city-centre having adopted the café model. Our goal is to share our passion for tabletop games by creating a purpose-built space for friends, family, colleagues or strangers to meet up casually or join in our regular events. We want to build an eco-friendly business that caters to the growing demand for more sustainable, healthier choices. To this end, we want to serve vegan and vegetarian ‘light-bites’ alongside Fairtrade coffees from local roasteries in the daytime, and local craft beers in the evening. Although we intend to focus on attracting a more ‘casual’ crowd, our café will be a space for everyone to enjoy. Whether they’re a complete newbie or a seasoned strategist, we believe that our carefully-curated selection of tabletop games will deliver a fantastic, socially-engaging experience. The experience we’re envisioning is affordable, accessible and built on the idea that people really value face-to-face interaction and some down-time spent away from screens. Whether it’s a lunchtime escape, an after-school activity, or a full evening’s entertainment- complete with an alcoholic beverage or two; we’ll be offering a fun, totally unique experience that’s excellent value for money.
