About Graceful Transitions

Deanna Heuring, Ed. S., owner, has been an educator for over 15 years, with a focus on individuals with disabilities. She currently teaches in a job skills training program based out in the St. Louis community. With a long focus on the "transition" period of education, she set out to provide assistance to families at all stages of life. Transition Education in the state of Missouri, and most states, is considered the time period between the ages of 16-21. It refers to planning for life after the graduation from K-12 education. Deanna believes families can prepare for "transition" long before age 16, and is the basis of the creation of Life Transition Services for Individuals with Disabilities. While serving as a Special Educator, Deanna worked in connection with family advocates. The advocates were a great support to families navigating their child with a disability's education. Deanna has always wanted to support families in achieving the best for their child. This is the basis of the creation of Family Champion Services. Deanna served as a caregiver for her Grandpa Flickinger for a little over seven years, and as a support to family caregiving for her Grandma Betty. During that time she learned many tricks and resources and strives to be the starting point she wishes her family had. This experience was the basis of the creation of Life Transition Services-Elder Care. Deanna has played a variety of rolls related to college preparation and planning, which have included: High School Special Education Teacher, Transition Education Teacher, and Collegiate Academic Advisor. During those experiences she gained knowledge for students and families planning for college, paying for college, requesting accommodations for ACT/SAT testing, and securing accommodations for college classes. During her time mentoring a variety of students who were college bound she got the basis for the creation of College Services. Deanna looks forward to supporting you soon!
