About GRaM design unit

GRaM is an international design studio based in Milan founded by Giuseppe Raboni and Michelle Montefusco. Michelle and Giuseppe are an A&D duo that has established individual positions within the design industry and have now decided to create a common design practice together to generate an exciting new operation in Milan with strong ties to London. Between them they have worked for world renowned practices in Barcelona and Paris (with Gae Aulenti) in Los Angeles (Nbbj Entertainment) in London (YOO) and in Milan (with Stefano Boeri, Piero Lissoni and Matteo Thun). This has enabled them to build a solid base, learning from every experience and forming their own very personal approach to the design process. It is no accident that their logo shows two completely different symbols: a square and a circle. Two completely different and complementary personalities that work together in harmony. On the one hand, Giuseppe’s approach is utterly rational, analytical, and constructive. He is a builder with a cautious approach: careful timing, building experience and dedication make sure projects stay on track and on budget. His background is strongly rooted in his “Milanese” background. Michelle’s interest instead is firmly rooted in interiors although she is, like Giuseppe, a licensed architect. FF&E, colours, materials and textures form her ongoing research and expertise. Michelle’s multicultural roots draw inspiration from her Canadian background and from her work in different parts of the world. Dynamic and eclectic, never missing an opportunity to research new design firms, materials, and trends; she works from the inside out, listening careful to the clients’ needs to meet their expectations. Together they reach a careful balance of expertise and personality.
